EMP - Soldering Is Hard! - Science
Some time ago, I gathered a few of my friends (all juniors) and we began to build an electromagnetic pulse generator. Hopefully, the device will be able to turn off old calculators placed within 2 meters of the generator. This is purely a "see if we can do it" experiment. The parts are fairly small, so soldering is very tricky. The terminals on the electronic parts are close together and so it is difficult to accurately attach the wires to them. We are almost done with the dirty work of soldering the wires to the tiny terminals. Next, we have to make a simple battery holder and attach other electronic parts like switches and resistors (much easier to solder onto the circuit). I should be able to take some pictures soon and post them on this blog.
